A mobility app that had three definitions of “trip”
Private Atelier · six sessions
The company counted a trip when a ride was requested, when a driver accepted, and when the vehicle moved. Board slides mixed the three. In the atelier we mapped each definition to a decision: operations needed accepts; finance needed completed journeys; product needed requested trips that failed to match.
App Analytics was not the villain. The event stream was rich. What was missing was a sentence, owned by a named person, for each chart. After session four the weekly pack opened with those sentences. Match rate stopped being reported as “trips,” which lowered a vanity number and ended a quarterly argument.
They did not buy more tooling. They deleted two dashboards.
